MINI Canada has launched a new contest to promote its upcoming Countryman model.
Using elements of social media, eight festively dressed holiday elves took the Facebook based contest to the streets of Toronto. Along for the ride were three all-new gift-wrapped MINI Countryman models, a celebrity host and some rocking tunes.
MINI Canada is giving contestants a chance to win the use of a 2011 MINI Countryman for a year. Entrants are encouraged to invite their Facebook friends to all virtually fit into the all-new MINI Countryman. Naturally, the one with the most wins.
The eight elves worked their way through the downtown Toronto core, visiting various “festing spots” where they offered people a chance to experience the all-new MINI Countryman and to sign up for the Facebook contest. The contest runs until December 30th and the winner will be announced on January 12th.
“Bringing our virtual contest live to the streets of Toronto lets us interact with our customers and fans in a hands-on and engaging way,” said John Cappella, Director, MINI Canada. “That is what MINI is all about – being extroverted and socially energetic. Our Facebook contest is the epitome of that desire to interact; taking it to the streets is the proof of our energy.”
Competing against the MINI elves to get the most number of people into a Countryman was Petrina Gentile, an award-winning journalist and one of few women covering the automotive industry in Canada.
All the action will be accessible by video and photography on the MINI Canada Facebook page for fans living across the country or unable to make the trip downtown.
