Volkswagen Canada, claimed a double victory at the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) Canadian Car of the Year Awards, held Tuesday November 21, 2006.
The Volkswagen EOS 2.0T won the award for Best New Convertible and the all new Volkswagen Rabbit 2.5 topped the field as the Best New Small Car over $18,000.

The AJAC awards come after 3 days of extensive testing by 70 journalists during the month of October, during which 64 different cars in various categories are compared.
The Volkswagen EOS is the brands first convertible with a folding steel hardtop roof. The 5 panel steel roof has a glass rear window and folds away into the trunk area and away from sight in just 25 seconds. The EOS is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged motor producing a healthy 200 HP.
The EOS has just gone on sale in Canada and was shown at the Toronto Auto Show in February 2006. Prices start at $36,900.
The Rabbit nameplate only recently resurfaced in North America after Volkswagen adopted the European name for this model, Golf, for over 2 decades. This latest version of the Rabbit, sports a 150 HP inline 5 cylinder engine and comes in 3 door or 5 door hatchback body styles. Prices start at $19,990 for the 3 door model.
