Today at the 2014 North American Auto Show Audi AG confirmed the long expected move in announcing the Audi Q3 SUV will go on sale later this calendar year. The vehicle will hit showrooms in Canada in late September 2014 as a 2015 model year.
The Q3 was originally presented at the 2011 Auto Show in Shanghai. The Q3 originally went on sale in China in 2012 then later in Germany.
While drivetrain choices have not been confirmed for Canadian markets, in the US the Q3 will be fitted with a 2.0L 200 horsepower, inline gasoline TFSI powered engine paired to a six speed tiptronic transmission. It seems likely that the same drivetrain would be available in Canada. For the US market, Audi Q3’s will come standard with front wheel drive and Quattro all wheel drive will be optional.
The Audi Q3 is based on the Volkswagen Golf platform and is assembled in 3 countries. North American models will be assembled in Martorell, Spain. Production facilities in China and India supply local markets.
