Buick has released its latest crossover model ahead of the Detroit Auto Show. The 2016 Buick Envision was revealed to a group of journalists gathered to view the historic brand’s latest offerings.
Buick representatives revealed that in North America, almost 2 of every Buicks sold through dealers is a SUV/Crossover as opposed to a car. The Buick Encore remains the most popular Buick in the market. To capitalize on that level of market appeal, Buick is adding compact Crossover Envision to the North American line up. The Buick Envison was originally introduced in China, where is won Motor Trend’s SUV award last year.
The Envision is built upon a unique platform not shared with another GM products.
The 2016 Buick Envision is powered by a 2.0L Turbocharged 4 cylinder engine which produces 252 HP and is mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission which drives the front wheels.
The Envision will be imported from China where the vehicle is currently built. GM currently sells over 145,000 Buick Envision’s a year in the domestic Chinese market. The decision to import from offshore was not taken lightly. The ultimate decision was made in an effort to ave on production cost as well as bringing the vehicle to market as quickly as possible. The vehicle’s sold in North America will feature a higher level of trim and refined suspension components.
Expect the 2016 Buick Envision to hit dealer showrooms sometime in the middle of 2016. Visit Buick’s website for further details
