Honda Canada unveiled the all-new 2015 Honda Fit at the 2014 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
Looking faintly similar to the current class leading compact car, the new Honda Fit features a new front grill and a massive raked windshield. Running down both sides are dramatic cut lines that flow back to the rear lights. A lower sculpted crease sweeps up towards the rear wheel arches.
Underneath, the wheelbase has been stretched by 30 mm. The redesigned body has been shortened by 40 mm and widened by 7.6 mm. A longer wheelbase usually translates to a more comfortable ride so it will be interesting to put this new Fit through its paces.
The longer wheelbase also helps to provide a 138.8 L increase in passenger volume and a 121.9 mm boost in rear seat legroom compared to the 2014 model.
A new 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC, inline 4 cylinder provides 13 more horsepower and 8 more lb-ft of torque. Officially the new engine achieves peak horsepower of 130 HP at 6500 RPM and maximum torque of 114 lb-ft at 4600 RPM. Completing the revised drivetrain are 2 new transmissions, a 6-speed manual shifting gearbox or Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with available paddle shifters. Honda claims improved fuel economy with the new drivetrains compared to the outgoing offerings.
Interestingly, this latest Fit model will be built in an all-new plant in Celaya, Mexico.
